BYOC 2011 – Unfair & Unclear rules left an Unprofessional impact by Sitesh Sharma

GUYS !!!

I am Sitesh Sharma aka Shadow[A], a gamer from Jaipur.
I attended BYOC Summer 2011 .. 24-26 June and want to comment on the organizers and the kind of rules they structured for Gamerz.

There was a rule on BYOC official site though i never checked it before going and after coming back but the organizers mentioned this at the time of arguments.

This was for CS 1.6 and it says that “due to any reason if the match stops in between .. then the match will resume from the last score but both the sides will get $5000″

Is this fair ???

Just imagine that at a “National Platform” where every single round matters and players came from different cities expect it to be the best CT’s are winning 4-0 and due to power cut they had to restart the match from 4-0. CT side will not get AWP with complete load out. This was just “UNFAIR”

At this stage of tournament and the kind of setup, how can you expect such things. I can only say that “One should do the homework before presenting something at a professional & National platform for others !!! ”

This is not the first one I played and neither the last !

and yes – don’t want to comment on the double elimination thing happened as the organizers agreed on what gamers were suggested but for once – it created all the mess !!

  1. You forgot to mention about the “Double Elimination” or I should say “Xtreme Double Elimination” rules ;p

Till date I’ve not seen any improvement in BYOC & I don’t know what will happen at WCG. Hope this BYOC will give them an idea about the expectation amongst the gaming community.

  2. no i mentioned karthik .. read the last 2 lines :) .. anyways i am also hoping that they get some learning from their own tourney …

I agree with KARTHIK u forgot d double elimination which d event head agreed that too wen sme1 stood up to be more precise BEN (a.k.a R4iD)
and d rest of you jus stood dere njoyin d LAN PARTY…ne 1 can speak at a forum and blast dem off but when we all got a chance what did we do NOTHIN.. :/ plus various isues more like the team matches being decided was somehow not convincing enough…i hope BYOC improves as far as WCG is concerned well that is 1 different story which shall happen :P pEace \m/

  4. Okay, lets talk big here. Did you attend last year’s WCG ? Were there any network flaws, I guess no. And, do you know why ? Its easy to manage the network for say around 20 people at a time but when you have something like 500-800 people at the same time, then there are Obvious problems which would come up. You can’t blame the organisers all the time, though we totally agree there were mishaps and maganament issues there at the event but all we can do is forget all this and look forward.

Talking about the start money, Was your match on amx module? If yes, then there was a command ‘notready’ which would have made the clan go into the pub mode till the DC’ed player joins back. If your clan was non-amx module, then I totally agree with you 4-0 issue and the Awp point but then its a big event. Mishaps do tend to happen, rather you could have reported the same thing at the admin desk, or if you did and admins dint react, then there has to be some other reason related to it. I ain’t saying that you are wrong any where. I totally agree with what all you’ve written here. All I would say is, we’ll try to deliver a much better event next season :)

    • Akshay i don’t know if you are a gamer or not coz being an organizer is like a boss of the company who don’t interact with all the employees but care about the company and its profits… don’t talk like this as this is not the right way of looking at things, this is simple IGNORANCE..

We can always ignore problems caused by our mistakes by saying that we should look forward and will fix it next time.. it was a big event with 400-500 gamers playing.
It is all learnings boss and if you keep doing such mistakes .. you will lose your credibility..

One should not organize such big events if you are not ready with proper infrastructure and yes gamers ignored many things at BYOC but these are the things which cant be ignored. Organizers were getting money out of this event but think of the teams who came from diff cities just to participate and play. They know that they cant win so they were just enjoying.
So organizers should take care of every gamer not just the PRO teams..

O yeah .. now i remember you are the same guy i reported to when the LAN connection was lost in my LANE (F1) and you ignored saying “i am not going” as you were tired of sitting on admin chair in AC and speaking on mic showing attitude to all gamers.
You came in the lane after 30 minutes and when i said something .. you replied “RUK JA MAIN KAR RAHA HU”.
Is this the way ADMIN handle things ??

A gaming tournaments is for gamers and you cant just ignore them. Either don’t do events on large scale or better be prepared with sufficient resources. At least learn how to speak and behave.

Akshay what we have mentioned here is the overtime thing …. not the double elimination part .because it has been taken care of and as per the rules and moreover you guys held the finals on stage only so we do not have any problem with the double elimination part . Infact we appreciate your efforts after so much of mess u guys held the finals on stage and done the double elimination according to the rule which all the gamers suggested …the lan thing was taken care of the first day only and after that there was no trouble related to lan.

but talking about the amx module in our match against bk there was no amx module running . according to me the rule of 5000 was not right otherwise everything was on its place :)

  6. I totally agree to your point samarth. The rules should be same for every one. If Amx module is running, then it should run in all matches else none of the matches. We’ll fix that in next season.

Thank you for your support :)

  8. chetan singh says:

and i dont agree with Akshay …. the event was huge and so reputative that the a minor mishap is untolarable … !
